How In The World Will We Do This?

A great thing about a big event, like our Father’s Day Outreach, is that it helps people to see just how much they are needed. It shows a glimpse of the potential we have as a church, if more people would step up. I love where our church is headed, and I LOVE having big events! Not only does it help reach people in our community, BUT it also leads to people stepping up in big ways!!!

Here is a list of ways that you can step up and make this happen:

  1. Buy tickets – just 1 ticket a week, is 5 tickets by Father’s Day. Start today!
  2. Sell tickets – don’t miss the chance to have an easy conversation about your church
  3. Begin tithing – we have no idea what God would do through a church that began to honor Him. Hopefully an event like this gives people a glimpse of what could be. Take the leap of faith this week, and begin to put God first in your finances. If you’d like to see more about what God’s Word says about tithing, check this out.
  4. Regular givers make a one-time generous and sacrificial gift above your regular tithes. If you already tithe, allow yourself to be stretched again and take another leap of faith! If you give regularly, thank you for carrying us as a church! Chances are you may have the spiritual gift of giving, and we would love for you to use that gift to help make this event happen! If you want to give a one-time gift, you can select “Offering” from the drop down menu here.
  5. Play the part you were intended to play. The risk with something like this, is that people will simple root for this. It’s good to think this is a great idea, but we don’t need people rooting for us, we need people in the game with us making it happen. The opportunity is far too big and we will miss greatness if you don’t play the part you were intended to play. Jump on a few of the above TODAY!

We are dreaming BIG. Even bigger than what you know now. HOWEVER, we need to see a significant increase in the financial giving towards this event before we can start to roll out some of our plans. In other words, we need to pay for the bounce houses and hot dogs before we can even think about unveiling some of our plans that would make this an event that fathers and guys look forward to every year. Don’t delay, step up today!!!

What In The World Are We Doing?

In the last post we shared why we are doing this. In this post, we want to share what exactly we are trying to do.

We are having a raffle, but it is not at all like most raffles. We are not trying to make money. That is why the tickets are low in cost and why we are only selling 1,000! We are simply paying for the Harley and our big Father’s Day Outreach event.

What Are We Doing With The Harley?

We want to do two things with the Harley. We want to pay for the event, AND we want to create some buzz. We want to drive the Harley (on a trailer) all over Middletown advertising this raffle. After seeing the Harley in person, people will go to the website. On this site not only will people purchase their tickets, but they can find out more about our church and our Father’s Day outreach. We also anticipate the conversations with your friends will be a whole lot more fun after they see this crazy thing all over Middletown!

What Are We Doing With The Event?

We are hoping that this goes so well that people will ask us to do this event every year! We want to create something that fathers and guys look forward to every year. We want to create an easy entry point into our church. I believe we are the church that many are looking for, and an easy event like this could really help people see that our church is different and a place for them.

We are going to give away a BBQ Grill and a Flat Panel TV. We are going to have bounce houses for the kids in attendance. We are going to have some fun things that guys will be excited about.

How Big Will This Event Be?

Well, that depends on the number of people who actually get involved and on how quickly they get involved. It really is that simple. If enough people get involved early enough, we will have time and finances to plan a really great event. I want to have Man Games (I won’t tell you what that entails until I know we can finance it), but I have to wait to see if we can pay for the other items we’ve committed to having.

So, the success of this event is really in your hands! We are asking you to buy as many tickets as you can, and here is the really important part… we are asking you to buy as many tickets as you can THIS WEEKEND! We are going to have another post giving you a few more ways to help make this happen, but for now the number of tickets sold early will be a huge determining factor in the success of this event. Go purchase some tickets today online, or come ready on Sunday!!!

Why Are We Doing This?!?!

You may have heard that we have big plans for a Father’s Day outreach, or that we are raffling a Harley to help make it happen. If you missed the announcement, you can check it out HERE.

What I want to let you in on, is a little WHY behind the WHAT. Why are we doing this?

  • We want to be a church that builds up fathers and a church that leads men to Jesus. Every year we are going to make a big deal about Father’s Day and provide a fun event that is appealing to guys.
  • We want to create awareness of Catalyst Church and get people in our community talking about our church. If someone is looking for a church home, we want to be a church that comes to their mind.
  • We want to provide an easy way for Catalyst people to start conversations with their friends, family, and co-workers to talk about Catalyst and what God is doing in their life
  • Because we will do whatever it takes, by any means necessary, to reach as many people as our church can possibly reach.
  • We are not doing this to make money. We are using this raffle to pay for the Harley and then to help pay for some of the event (tons of bounce houses, giveaways, food, etc).
  • Yes, we are doing all of this to get people to come out. Not so we can have a big event, but so we can tell them about our big God. We are more concerned about what happens AFTER the event, but we just see this as a great opportunity to make a positive first impression.
  • Yes, we are doing all of this to entice people to come out. We have seen what God is doing in the lives of people that are currently at Catalyst Church, and we want to do everything we can to bring the message of hope and forgiveness to everyone around us.
  • I find it a little funny that we could do nothing as a church, open our doors every Sunday, and try to build bigger and better buildings AND no one would say anything. Will this work, honestly, I’m seriously getting nervous and beginning to wonder, BUT what I won’t do is just sit back and do nothing!
  • I also find it funny that some church leaders will take issue with this, but are okay with spending $10,000-20,000 on marketing that will get no one talking. When this is all said and done, we are going to spend $0 from our regular church budget,  AND we will have people talking not just on Facebook, but all over our community.

Here is what you need to know about this weekend:

1.  MOTHERS DAY AT CATALYST | FREE PORTRAIT | OTHER FREE GIFTS | DON’T MISS IT!!

This Sunday at Catalyst, we are honoring Moms and doing all we can to make the morning as special as we can for them.  From 9:00a – 9:50a, Edolyne David Photography is going to be shooting family portraits.  Catalyst Church will be providing everyone with a free 8×10 copy of the photo that you can pick up at Catalyst next Sunday.  This is going to be an awesome gift!  Because we are portable, and will need to tear down, photos WILL NOT be taken after the service so make sure you there between 9:00a – 9:50a.

Also, during the service we are going to be giving away a few random pedicures, manicures, and other spa and salon services to some of the Moms in attendance.  Make plans to attend and bring the Mom in your life with you.

2.  EMPTY | CONTINUES THIS SUNDAY

Life can make us all feel a little empty, like we just don’t have enough time for everything that’s going on.  Join us, and find time again for what’s most important in life!  Get off of EMPTY and Recharge this Sunday @ Catalyst.

3. READY TO TAKE THE NEXT STEP?

Are you ready to step-out and take the next step?  Maybe you experienced the recent Baptisms at Catalyst and you were inspired to also follow Jesus with this next step. The Bible clearly teaches that Baptism is the next step after giving your life to Jesus. Baptism is your chance to stand up and tell the world about your personal commitment to follow Jesus.  There is nothing that we love to celebrate more at Catalyst than when people come forward and unashamedly tell the world that they belong to Jesus.

We are currently planning our next Baptism service.  If you are ready to take this step OR if you have questions and want to know more about Baptism, then check-out our Baptism page. You can also find a link on that page to sign up to be a part of our next Baptism service at Catalyst!!!

4.  MAKE A DIFFERENCE THIS SUNDAY

If you love what God is doing at Catalyst, and if you want to be a big part of what God is doing, we would love for you to help us with the tear down. We have some great volunteers that help us set up, but many of those volunteers are greeting and connecting with people after the service. Tearing everything down and putting it all away would be smoother, more efficient, and less of a burden if we had a few more hands each week. This is a really great opportunity if you want to sleep in but still make a big difference.

Here is the deal, we really need you! We signed a contract to be out of Keigwin by 12:00, and unfortunately that rarely happens. The other reality is this, we are waiting to hear back on if they will let us be there for another year (July 2011 – June 2012). Us honoring our current contract, and putting everything back as they had it when we arrived, are two things they are looking at as they consider renewing our contract. We could really use some great people to step up and help us with the tear down. If you are one of the people that could help, we will see you this Sunday starting 10 minutes after the service.

5.  COMMUNITY GROUPS ARE STARTING IN A FEW WEEK

We want to see Community Groups be all that they could and should be. If you were a part of Community Groups in the past, please take a moment to share your experience. Your story could help someone be a part of Community Groups. Click this link to find out how to share your story

I hope you are having a great week and I can’t wait to see you Sunday!!

Help Make Community Groups Amazing

Community Groups will be starting in just a few weeks!
For those of you who really love Community Groups, we could use your help. Your story and letting others know about your experience with Community Groups could really encourage someone to participate in them.
If you benefited from Community Groups, then I’m sure you’d like to see others benefit from the experience. Could you write a few paragraphs about your experience? Below you can find a few questions that could help you write just a few short paragraphs encouraging others and sharing your experience.
A few things that may help you share your experience:
  • How have Community Groups helped you grow spiritually?
  • How have Community Groups helped you connect with other growing Christians?
  • How has your life been impacted by the positive relationships you’ve built through Community Groups with other fully devoted followers of Christ?
  • What were some objections/fears you initially had about participating in Community Groups, and what happened in the groups to help you realize those initial objections and fears weren’t warranted?
  • Describe your favorite part of Community Groups (relationships, encouragement, spiritual growth, the community outreach project, etc).
  • Why should someone join a Community Group this semester?
If you would write a few short, clear, concise sentences– your story could help someone that is a little leery of joining a Community Group! If you want to share your story, please send it to connect@catalystchurch.tv. Thank you so much for your time and help with this!!!
