A quick look at what is going on at Catalyst Church this week!

1. Hello My Name Is God Teaching Series | Begins This Sunday!

What’s in a name? Everything. Maybe the only thing you know about God’s name is that you shouldn’t use it in vain, but God has many names, each giving insight into His heart and character. One God. Many Names. Over the next four weeks at Catalyst Church, during this thought provoking new series, Hello My Name Is God, we’ll examine some of the names of God, what they mean, and how they can connect you to a more intimate understanding of our incredible God.

2. Location Change (this week only)

Because of the H1N1 scare at Keigwin, the school will not open again until Monday. Since we meet on Sunday, that means we are not allowed in. That’s OK, we will be meeting at Snow School in Middletown. For more information on this change click HERE.

3. Invading Area Neighborhoods | Saturday at 5:30

We are taking Trick-Or-Treating to a whole nutha level!  We have a crazy plan to invade several neighborhoods in the Middletown area. If you would like to help make it happen, we need people, candy, and donations so we can serve coffee. 4. Time Change
Some time Saturday night the time will change. So, don’t forget to push your clocks back an hour. If not, then we will see you extra early this Sunday at Catalyst Church!

5. Shepherd Home Outreach | Saturday at 4:00
If you are a student, we would love for you to help with this great opportunity to serve some of the homeless right here in Middletown. We go every month, this month our students will be leading this great outreach. For more information click HERE.

The best is yet to come!!

I don’t know what we will call them (Journey, Life, Home Groups, etc.), but we are quickly moving in the direction of having them.

Here are our two biggest challenges at the moment- connections and growth. With our current structure (setting up, ministry, tearing down) connections have been a little slower than I would like. We are starting to turn the corner, but I know we are meant to grow together, so Im hoping we can speed the connections process up. The other area we need to improve on is growth. With so many people coming in to Catalyst from so many backgrounds it is hard to meet each need on a Sunday morning. We have everything from young to old, churched to unchurched to de-churched, single, married and single again.

I’ve been against starting Groups this early (mainly because we still need to focus on Sundays, CatalystKIDS and Community Outreach). BUT, lately I’ve been praying and processing through the possibility of starting Groups as early as January.

I just watched this video and I think we are quickly moving closer to starting Groups. At some point the stuff will hit the fan. At some point you will need people full of faith, hope and prayer to help you through something. At some point you will need to be there for someone. I think Groups are a great way to help connections and growth. Check out this video:

What are your thoughts?

It is really looking like we wont be able to do Trunk-Or-Treat. The options seem to all be disappearing. That’s ok. I really feel like God is orchestrating these events. Im not sure if he’s closing a door (maybe because of rain, etc) OR if he is opening a door….

What if we did a Reverse-Trick-or-Treat???

What could it look like??? Perhaps something like this…

• We have a few teams that get in their costumes
• Fill a few hundred gift bags (WITH GOOD CANDY, NOT CHEAP STUFF)
• WE go door to door in several neighborhoods
• We deliver candy/gift bags to people in their homes
• Of course we would probably leave a handout/flyer for our upcoming series Hello My Name Is God

Im thinking we would do this earlier. Perhaps Thursday night, or early Saturday?

Another thing I’d love to do, set up random stations around town with coffee and hot chocolate. Like maybe 4-5 mobile stations. Each station equipped with a table, decaf and regular coffee, hot chocolate and handouts/flyers.
