Our New Building Update

As you may know, we are hunting for our next meeting location!  Middletown schools will not be an option much longer, and we need a place that would allow us to do more ministry throughout the week.

We recently challenged people to make the next chapter at Catalyst a reality… And your step out in faith really blew us away!  Let me share with you that progress!  On February 5th, here’s what God did through you:

  • 12 people gave for the first time ever – that is a HUGE spiritual step
  • 15 people committed to begin tithing and to start putting God first in their finances
  • Commitments of increased giving in 2012 totaled $93,000 and will help prepare us to be able to make this transition
  • We saw a miracle take place, as you gave over $42,000.00 on ONE weekend (no, that is NOT a typo)

As you can see, we are well on our way to discovering our next chapter at Catalyst Church!  Because you’ve made it clear that Jesus is your treasure, I know you’ll want to be praying about this adventure.  Here are a few areas where we desperately need to see God work:

  • If it’s God’s will, pray that He would continue to open the door at a location we really love
  • Pray for the owner of this property.  A church of our age and size is a risk for a business owner.  In addition, we are asking for more than most people who might be interested in this property.
  • Finances are still an issue; he wants to see much more than $42,000 in our savings account.  Because we are a young church with a short financial record, we’ll need to use almost half that amount when we sign our lease agreement (security deposit & first few months’ rent up front).  The good news: we still have a little bit of time to show him that we will continue to see an increase in weekly giving.
  • Parking is a major hurdle.  We are asking him to make a lot of changes and concessions in the area of parking.  Honestly, God will really need to do something huge to make this happen.

I want to close by saying that I am incredibly proud of your generosity, your faith, and your desire to create a place where we can continue to reach out to those who are far from God.  We need you, now more than EVER, to pray like never before!

Can I count on you to pray – like never before – over the next few weeks?

Good Afternoon Catalyst! Here is what’s happening at your church this week!

He Said, She Said

This Sunday begins our new series “He Said, She Said.” Whether you are married, in a relationship, or at some point hope to be in one of those two categories this series is for you. Through this series we will learn the foundation of a healthy marriage, how to minimize conflict in our marriages, how to express the Gospel in our marriages and how singles can prepare themselves for a godly marriage.

We all know people who could benefit from this series on relationships, and we challenge you to personally invite 10 people to join you at Catalyst this Sunday. Whether your relationship is doing great or is struggling we can all improve our relationships by applying the principles we will learn from this series.

Join us this Sunday, along with 10 of your friends, at 9:30 or 11am to learn how to make your relationships even better!

Miracle Sunday

This past Sunday we asked you to bring your best one time gift to Catalyst, to help us prepare to find a new location, and to increase your giving for the remainder of the year. What we saw was nothing short of a miracle.

You made it very clear this past Sunday that God is your treasure through making HUGE sacrifices to allow Catalyst to broaden our impact in central Connecticut!

Please join us this Sunday at 9:30 or 11am to not only hear the final numbers, but more importantly hear how by first showing your obedience to God, He has now moved on our behalf!

THRIVE Devotionals

Today is day 9 of our 21 day THRIVE devotionals. If you have fallen behind, start over today on day 9 and finish strong.

The THRIVE devotionals can be found by going to www.CatalystChurch.tv/THRIVE

Special Service – February 5th

On February 5th we will celebrate what God has done and what God will continue to do right here at Catalyst Church. We also want this to be a day of encouragement for those who have worked so hard to make Catalyst happen. We want to share what God has done as a result of the faithful and dedicated service of so many.

Everyone has a story and we would love to hear how has God changed your life through the ministry of Catalyst Church. So we are asking you to share your story with us by going to: www.CatalystChurch.tv/MyStory.

11am Service

It is exciting to see what God is doing at Catalyst Church and to see our 9:30am service filled with guests every week!

Our 9:30am service is so full each week, though, that there are few seats left for new guests to feel comfortable, so we are asking you to consider joining us at our 11am service time. This will open more seats for guests at 9:30am and provide them with a more comfortable environment.

So this Sunday what will you do with an extra hour and a half? Will you sleep in, go to breakfast, get that extra large coffee, AND help us tear down after the 11am service?

Good Afternoon Catalyst! Here’s What’s Happening At Your Church This Week!

Big Night Out

Our next Big Night Out is this Friday, January 13th from 7:00 to 9:00pm. Big Night Out is a great opportunity to invest in your marriage, and meet with other couples who are seeking to honor God in and through their marriage. This month we will be focusing on seasons (the good and the bad) and how to make any season a great season for your marriage.

There is still time to sign up and join us, the cost is $15 PER COUPLE and covers the cost of the location, resources and dessert. To sign up or for more information click here.

Thrive

We are excited to be starting a new series called Thrive, this Sunday. Our desire in this new year is to help you and your family learn what it means to live with margin – in your time, in your energy, in your relationships and in your finances. We challenge you to ask yourself this question, “what would my life look like if I could go from surviving to THRIVING?”

This Sunday we will begin to equip you and challenge you to start the journey of moving from surviving to Thriving.

Community Groups

Our next semester of community groups is right around the corner. For this semester we will be offering the six week “I Was Broke. Now I’m Not.” Community Group Study. This study is an extremely practical, action-oriented, and biblically-based study which will inspire you to take charge of your finances.

To find out more information about the study and sign up for a group click here.

Living Space For Staff

We are excited to be adding an additional staff member starting next week. This person is a young college student who is passionate about children and will be an amazing asset to our children’s environments and will also help with improving connections.

As a church we are taking a huge step of faith in hiring this person as we are unable to provide income which would cover the cost of a rental. We need your help. We are looking for people who have the ability host this person in their home for approximately 2 to 3 months at a time. If you are in a place where you can provide this please email connect@catalystchurch.tv and we can provide you with more information and see if this would be a good fit.

Good Afternoon Catalyst! Here’s What’s Happening At Your Church This Week!

As you may have heard, Lorraine Nemecek’s husband unexpectedly passed away Saturday morning. Frank had been wrestling with a few health concerns for a while, but no one saw this coming. It has been a tough couple of days, but the Nemecek and Larkin families appreciate your love and your prayers. They want to thank you for being the church!

During this time, the families can only cling to the promises of God’s Word. One promise is in 2 Corinthians 5:8 –

Yes, we are fully confident, and we would rather be away from these earthly bodies, for then we will be at home with the Lord.

While we grieve on this side of eternity, we know that Frank is in a better place and his absence hear means he is at home with the Lord. We rejoice that he is no longer in pain and that he now has a front row seat to view our Savior Jesus Christ in all of his glory and splendor.

Because Frank and Lorraine have been a part of the Catalyst from the beginning, and because Lorraine is Pastor Mike’s mother, we wanted to let the whole church know about the funeral arrangements.

Calling Hours will be from 10 – 11:30am this Thursday, January 5th with a memorial service immediately following at the Biega Funeral Home in Middletown. All are invited to a reception in East Hampton starting at 1pm, directions will be available at the memorial service.

If you are free and would like to attend the funeral of Frank Nemecek, Lorraine would love to see you!

Thank you so much for your prayers, help, and encouragement during this tough time.

For additional information click here.

Big Night Out

Big Night Out will be Friday January 13th, from 7 to 9pm. The cost is $15 PER COUPLE for the evening, which will include dessert and resources.

As we are only serving dessert we encourage you to take your spouse on a date prior to Big Night Out and then join us for time to connect with other married couples at Catalyst and to invest in your marriage.

Our last two events have sold out so don’t miss this opportunity! Sign up now by going to www.catalystchurch.tv/outreach/big-night-out/.

Vision 2012

This Sunday we will start a one week series entitled Vision 2012. This one week series will give you a glimpse of the direction Catalyst is moving over the next 12 months and how you can play a role in this movement. Clear off your calendars and join us at either 9:30 or 11am. This is one Sunday you can’t miss!
