News For The Week Of 12.20.11

Good Afternoon Catalyst! Here’s What’s Happening At Your Church This Week!

THANK YOU!

THANK YOU for all of your hard work helping us exceed our goal and especially for the countless hours that you spent with us at the event this past weekend! Thanks to your generosity and being willing to do whatever it takes we were able to exceed our goal and bring 256 NEW bikes to children this year!

Through this event our church has had the opportunity to share our story and our heart through a few media outlets. One of which is the Middletown Press, you can see the article here, please take a moment and leave a positive comment about our community and your experience during this great outreach. By doing this we can help keep this story on top AND so that next time they will cover our story prior to the event.  Channel 8 also visited the event and shared the story that God is writing through you.

Catalyst family, through this we saw that you are willing to do whatever it takes to Love God, Love People and Prove IT! We would not have been able to do it without you! THANK YOU!

7 Things About This Weekend That Everyone At Catalyst Needs To Know

Hello Catalyst friends & family,

Starting tomorrow, this weekend is full of adventure and opportunities! Here is what you need to know…

1) Friday Night Kick-off – 6:00-9:00pm

  • Help us kick off the madness of living 30 feet in the air for 48 straight hours & help raise awareness and donations to bless over 200 kids
  • We will have: bounce houses, Santa, hot chocolate, candy and cookies, friends, family & more!  All FREE just for coming out to the kick-off
  • The more people who come celebrate the kick-off with us, the more fun it’ll be, especially for people from our community!  Come show your support for Catalyst and this HUGE attempt at being a blessing.
  • Hair Zone in Middletown (right near where you turn off Newfield St to go to Keigwin)
2) Saturday Kick-off – 11:00am-3:00pm

  • Saturday’s kick-off will have all the same free fun, just with popcorn & face painting thrown in!
  • Come on out and have fun with everyone.  Your presence will make a big difference.  Santa and candy will only be available during the Friday and Saturday kick-offs
  • Hair Zone in Middletown
3) Sunday Celebration and Party – 3:30-4:30pm

  • Celebrate with us as we share a few more stories of those we are bringing bikes to, and learn a few ways we have already been a blessing.  Best of all, be there as we give our final update, and be one of the first to learn the total number of bikes you helped raise!
  • This celebration is for our church family to celebrate!  We will have: bounce houses, hot chocolate, and a great time celebrating what God has done through 200bikes200children.com
  • The Whey Station will be selling their world-famous grilled cheese (If you haven’t tried it, their grilled cheese alone is worth coming out for!  If you have tried it, you are already looking forward to this part!)
4) Sunday Service – 9:30 or 11:00

  • Be sure to invite everyone you know!  We will be showing clips from Elf, and then learning about some people who were surprised at the first Christmas… You may be surprised yourself!
  • Don’t miss the chance to invite your friends!  They probably have never been more open to attending church!  Sometimes they just need an invite (or 12)… Don’t stop!
5) Tell everyone to help us make a BIG impact

  • Tell everyone you know about the Friday and Saturday Kick-off parties.  Tell them to come down EVEN IF THEY AREN’T DONATING!  Come anyway and have fun with us!
  • If they are donating, let them know the three ways they can donate and make a difference: 1) online, 2) bring a Walmart gift card, or 3) bring cash to the 48 hour event
6) Come on out!

  • Maybe you’ve heard this one before, but just incase you missed it, it’s really important for you to come out and show your support!  You can: just show up and show your support, sign up to be a part of the welcoming team and logistics, or show up with tons of friends.  Don’t miss out on being a part of something this weekend!
7) Nominate someone

  • We are taking nominations to receive bikes through Sunday.  Tell your friends to come to the 48 hour event to nominate someone, or to nominate someone online at 200bikes200children.com

Easiest iPad2 You’ll Ever Win

Do you want to make a HUGE impact this Christmas?

Do you have friends or family who might want to help you?

Are you outgoing? Courageous? A risk taker?
If you answered “YES!”… We have a job for you! And you COULD be the one to win an iPad.
Here is what we would like for you to do…
  • Commit to going 30 feet in the air and staying on our lift for 1-2 hours
  • Do whatever you can, while on the lift, to get as many people to come out and donate as possible
If you are picked to go on the lift, we will provide everything you’ll need to communicate with your friends and family.  You could simply copy and paste emails, texts and Facebook status updates.
At the end of the weekend, whoever raises the most money during their time on the lift will win a brand new iPad2.  MOST IMPORTANTLY, you will help us ensure we have over 200 bikes!!!
This is an easy way to get your friends, co-workers and family involved.  Anyone who wants to help you win can either donate online or in person via check or Walmart gift card.
If all of the time slots fill up, we will pick the most outgoing, eager applicants.  So sign up fast!
Here is the most important information… To sign up, we need you to make a Facebook video!  Here are the rules:
  • Post a Facebook video (using your phone or computer camera is just fine)
  • On that Facebook video, tell us why you should be chosen as well as any creative things you could possibly do to raise the most donations (keep it clean, people!)
  • Come back to this blog, and under the comments section, post a link to your Facebook page so that we can view the video
Prove to us in your video that you want to be courageously outgoing and make a difference this Christmas!
PS – Early videos automatically get more votes!  Who will be the first???

Thank you so much for helping us impact lives this Christmas season!!!

Two early entries

Here are a few early nominations for bikes. We won’t have the entries back from the schools for another week, but I hope a few stories help you to be generous and support our attempts to bring 200 bikes to 200 children this Christmas.

I am a single mother, and the bike my daughter has now is way too small for her, she has shot up this year and is very tall for her age! I’m struggling enough just getting her a few toys for Christmas, and a bike would be a long time coming. I just don’t want her to feel left out, I remember riding my bike as one of my favorite parts of childhood. Whether or not she is one of the 200 chosen, I think this is a wonderful thing you are doing for the children. Also, I know that there are people out there with even less than me. I pray for them and all the children especially in this season, when so much emphasis is placed on “things”. What you are doing transcends this and seeks to put joy in the hearts of our children.

___________ is a very caring loving child. He is always thinking of others and would go without so others can have. He is always willing to help his peers in and out of the classroom. __________ is a triplet and the only boy. Mom is the only one working. ___________ shares a room with his sisters. He never has anything of his own. He is an excellent student and is working above grade level. He is also a very energetic little boy and a bike would be a wonderful outlet. ____________ has never had a bike of his own.

If you’d like to be a part of bringing hope to families, please donate today! By donating early it will allow us to purchase bikes without a mad scramble at the end. Thanks for helping make great outreach events like possible. Visit www.200bikes200children.com to donate today.
