When we began to think about blessing the students, parents and administration of Snow Elementary School with backpacks there were
three HUGE obstacles…
- How in the world would we get Middletown and Snow School to let us use their facilities AND for free? I had visions of standing in front of town officials trying to explain that “NO, don’t worry, we will NOT be attempting to drop these out of helicopters. Trust me, it’ll be okay.” I wonder how that conversation would have gone?!?!
- How would we get word out? We’d look a little silly holding 300 backpacks if no one were to show up AND because we will need every dime we can find just to purchase backpacks and supplies, we really don’t want to spend money on printing and mailing.
- How would we pay for these? As a 10 month old church plant, to say money is tight would be an ENORMOUS understatement! How do we pay for 300 backpacks and supplies???
God at Work…
- Turns out, Snow School already has an event planned. They are inviting parents and students to a marshmallow something or other. We have been invited, BY Snow School, to hand the backpacks out at this event that THEY ALREADY HAD PLANNED! We don’t have to worry about paying for the facility, paying for janitors, and we don’t have to worry about getting the town to okay this! Now, we can focus on serving the Snow School administration and helping to make this event everything they hoped it would be!!! (Yes, that means bounces houses for sure!!!)
- We don’t have to worry about getting word out! Snow School is paying the printing and postage to send letters to EVERY parent at Snow School. This letter will tell them about the event, it will tell them that Catalyst Church will be giving out free backpacks, and it will let them know that Catalyst Church is promising that there will be at least three bounce houses for their kids!
- That leaves us with just one obstacle…where do we find money for 300 backpacks, supplies and bounce houses??? This is where God has really started to move. One person has stepped up in a huge way, and they are going to match every donation, above your tithe and offering, up to $1,500 from NOW through August 8th!
Tell me this isn’t just plain crazy!?!? God will, and has done the impossible. Now it’s time for us to do the possible. To help make this happen, please click the button below…
